Another Box.....

Hi All:
I've been busy checking out all the new stuff that came out @ CHA this week. No, I didn't get to go. :( I am hoping for the winter convention (if the kids' college doesn't drain me). 
I made a cheescake for a friend and I wanted to "wrap it up" nicely. So I made another box..... I'm loving these..... Mind you...... I didn't go into huge detail on the box because it will probably get thrown away. BUT......I love the way the tags turned out. :)

The supplies:
1 12x12 solid card stock
2 12x12 double -sided patterned paper
Cardboard for inside support
Adhesives and embellishments as needed

I had to show off the cheesecake. :)

Top: score @ 3/4" on all sides
Bottom: score @ 1 1/2" on all sides
Cut slits in paper and adhere to create the box.

Cut solid cardstock into 4 - 3" strips and score @ 9" on all pieces. Cut an 1/8" off the long side. I stamped a leaf with white ink to add a little design. Adhere flaps to the inside to create a box. Adhere the box to the bottom patterned paper. Reinforce the bottom with a 9x9 piece of cardboard for support.

I used a patterned paper to embellish the top. The tag was painted with a robin blue acrylic paint and then both tags were distressed with Tim holtz distressed ink (Tea Bag) and then I stamped "wish big", added ribbon and done! The little button was made with my epiphany acrylic button maker.

In Honor of Harry!

Good Morning
So my daughter went to the Harry Potter Midnight premier and decided (at the last minute of course) to make cupcakes. She did a wonderful job with fondant. So, I had to make a couple of simple boxes for her to take along. :) I HAD TO! I knew these boxes would probably be thrown away so I didn't go crazy on them. But these are simple boxes and super quick to make if you are thinking about a quick holder for cookies, pies or cakes:

Here's supply list:

Creative Imaginations Harry Potter Line Paper (2-12x12 for each box)

Creative Imaginations Harry Potter Stickers
Bazzil Basics: Black Prismatic and bling bling (1 or more -12x12 for each box)
Chipboard or cardboard
Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Tea Dye
Versa Color: Black

This is such a simple box:

Top and bottom paper: score patterned paper @ 1-1/2 inches on all four sides and cut slits to each corner and adhere to create a short box. Note: You must reinforce the bottom of the box with chipboard or cardboard to support the treats.

Here’s the tricky part: You have to decide how “tall” your treats are going to be and cut your cardstock tall enough to clear them. For this box, I cut 4 strips, 5” wide and 12” long. Score @ 9”. AFTER you have scored….. trim long end of strip 1/8” (It fits better in the box. ). Embellish paper now before you assemble. Adhere strips to make a box making sure the flaps are all on the inside.

Use your tape runner to run a “bead” of adhesive along the inside of your bottom box and insert the cardstock square inside. Ink all the edges (of course) and embellish sides and top as desired!

And the finished Yummies..... None came back (or the boxes :) ) So, I am assuming they were good!

Happy Birthday Little Monkey!

Good Morning Everyone!
It's Sunday and very quiet around my house so I'm enjoying the little dogs on my lap and a cup of coffee.... BTW, before we get started.... I just bought "Coconut Creme" creamer by Coffemate. Oh my.

My friend Maria's little rascal is turning one soon and so we went to work making these cute invites. She told me her idea and colors she liked. She calls him monkey and wanted a jungle theme.  It was quite the challenge for me since I don't work with these bright colors that much. I just couldn't grasp a good idea in my head so I went to our local craft store and as always...... Something just jumped out at me..... This patterned paper by American Crafts paper line called Margarita. Perfect little jungle leaves. Now you can imagine, it wasn't in the baby section so, here's a hint...... keep your mind open and look around.

Here's is the color pallet and how I think ( a little on the crazy side) My sketch book is really coming in handy and I would recommend one for everyone.

I started with a Standard A2 gatefold card and purchased white envelopes. Since there were 6 kinds of monkeys, I had to rearrange the cards to fit Mason's cute picture. I inked every edge you can think of on all the pieces of paper. I printed the "our little monkey" and attached it to cardstock just started adhering everything together.......

As you can see in this photo, Mason's picture is removable to keep (what? throw away the rest? How dare they?) and the invitation folds out to reveal the details!

AND....... The finished invites (22 of them all together. Whew!)

Card Display - Did you see it?

Did you happen to see what my last card was displayed on? Check this out.... I was looking for a unique way to display my cards on. Something a little different than the regular flower frog ( I like those too).

 I was at an Antique street fair and saw this cute idea for holding pictures. of course I bought one and now I'm on the look out for more "things" to wrap wire and bling around! Now I get to alter it with MORE stuff as always. I'll post the 'after" pictures.

A Little Bit of Paris - Gift Box

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you are enjoying a long holiday. It's hot here in Lincoln (finally) and we will be spending time around the pool this afternoon.
I have the opportunity to grow lavender in my cutting garden and I just harvested a ton! But you can purchase lavender at most farmer's markets or craft fairs. I could even mail you some! Just ask.
I wanted to make something so I could share my lavender with my friends so I adapted this box  I saw on Stamp TV here: Seed Box . I thought the box was really cute and when I started to make it, of course, I started changing it up. I went all Frenchy! I used "A bit of Paris" paper line from Three bugs in a Rug, the Magenta Style line (from France) and even my lavender is French.  If you would like my altered patterned just email me and I'll send it to you. :)
Those of you who know me, know I am a gadget girl and so I pulled out all my "gadgets"  and went to town.
BTW....... I used my Helmar 450 glue for this entire project and it was awesome. I created the flower with 450 just by twisting and wrapping and gluing as I went and it stuck. I added a little tiny magnet and small piece of to hold the flap of the box down.

Here's the actual altered patterned paper

I just ran a bead of 450 down the middle of the ribbon and started twisting and attached again with 450 to a circled piece of the patterned paper and voila!

A tiny magnet and piece if metal (again with 450) was hidden behind the lock embellishment.

The little bag was filled with dried lavender and Thank you tags attached with 450! When you open the box, the fragrance is wonderful.  Très beau!

When I had my little surgery, I had a number of friends and family go over the top in helping me out so I didn't just want to send ordinary cards. I decided to make each one different and let them know how special and unique I thought they all were. I couldn't post the project till after I gave them the cards cuz some of them follow me! :)

These are pretty basic cards but I had a lot of them to do. I love Teresa Collins paper lines. They are so feminine and you really can add any color to get your own style or theme just right!

This "Thank You"  ribbon was awesome. You can't

tell in the picture but I cut a small slit in the side 

of the card and ran the ribbon to the inside AND

 it came out perfect. Don't ask me how I did THAT!
