It's a Beautiful Moment!

WOW.... 2 posts in one week. Woo Hoo. But I just couldn't wait any longer to share Carta Bella's debut line, Beautiful Moments. I just fell in love with this line so I bought every single piece. :) Sooooo..... check out the line and if you're interested, drop me a line and I'll give you the price list early before the retail website is up.
Here's my first project with Beautiful Moments

I used these two papers from their line:

Of course I love this vintage style paper.
I used my UTEE to thicken the chipboard piece
I just love this box!!!!!
I used the edge distressing with water technique (Thank you Sherri at For the Love of Paper) and rolled the paper back to create that peeled look. I used Prima flowers and a little glass knob for my embellishments.
A metal clock filled with crackle added to my vintage style.
OK..... I love this line, you will too. Wait till you see the rest......
Just to get you started, if you've made it this far..... I'm giving away some Carta Bella!
(nine 12x12 double sided paper, 12x12 Alphabet Sticker sheet, 12x12 element sticker sheet)
Whatcha gotta do...... Become a follower AND Leave a comment, throw some love to Carta Bella on Facebook! Let me know what you think of this Beautiful Moment! I'll give it away on July 14th.
Wishing you a great weekend. Whew... Long post. Thanks for stickin' with me. :)

Roundin' Up Some Cowgirls

Hey Everyone:
Sorry I haven’t been around. Totally been creating away for the Unique Crafters Guest Designer next month. Since this my first Designer spot and I don’t know exactly what the H I’m doing, I hope they like what I create. They were so generous in the package they sent,so  I want them to be proud. Wish me luck….
But “funner”  news. I’m going to begin spotlighting some creative people I know because, well, they are just so dang talented! If you’re interested in becoming a Lazy Cowgirl, drop me a line and we’ll get it done! J You’ll never know what you’ll get in return. Wink Wink.
I’ve lassoed my first Lazy Cowgirl and I can’t wait for you to meet her.
Here’s Barbie…..
Barbie enjoys making and decorating boxes, gift card holders, fun packaging things like purses, etc. in addition to cards.

Here's Barbie's banner.... Our pictures aren't perfect because I ask for them after she gave the banner away, but Barbie made this for a bridal shower and below are some great close ups.
This was a "Kitchen" Theme. Look at the details and I totally fell in love with her color combination.
Jobecca is one lucky girl.
Barbie's favorite items include embellishments, paper, tools, stamps etc....  definitely glitter and bling!  "I love making flowers to decorate using punchesand diecuts and embossing folders!!  I’m spending more time with myCricut now, so that will soon become a favorite too, hmmm is there anything I don’t like??" (She's just like the rest of us!) "I am just starting to branch out into making things, like the banners for gifts.  I didn’t think I was that interested until I made my first banner… wow, too much fun!"
Welcome to the Posse Barbie. We'll be seeing more of you!
Have a great week everyone! I'm working on the retail site this week and hope to have it up and running soon!
Hugs

Pink Zebra

I was asked to create a  gift for an 8th grade graduate.  I don’t know if any of you feel this way but I don’t like to make things for others. Why? Because I’m afraid they won’t like it! J I’d rather create something and then put it up for sale. That means someone “picked” it themselves.

I'm also linking up with The Unruly Paper Arts Quest for this project.
This box cost me $3.00 at the local Goodwill….. Love a bargain!
A little sanding, painting, paper and removing the hardware and here we go…..
Our local high school are the Zebras so I thought Teresa Collins' Freestyle line was perfect. I Modpodged the paper to the box and I must say it adhered nicely with no wrinkles. I wasn't crazy about the edges so I sanded a bit and wiped on Decoart pink paint to finish them off.
I also added some blingage (Zach's Bookplates), Want2scrap bling that I recolored (I love doing that) with Ranger Alcohol Inks.
I also die cut grungeboard and adhered with paper for the flowers. Here's a little hint...I've been buying my silk (Polyester) flowers at the dollar tree, taking them apart, adding a brad or rhinestone and a little glimmer mist and they turn out really cute.
And the inside....I love repurposing unusual boxes and now I have a collection thanks to friends and family.

Button, Button, Who's got the Button?

Do you remember that game? Am I aging myself? Over at Unique Crafters Challenge this month, we’re having a Button Challenge. Roll on over and join in! I'll be guest designing next month and I'm waiting patiently (HA!) for my packet. On to the challenge. Recently, a friend gave me a ton of buttons and so here we go! Did I mention I'm tired of Pink right now????
I needed some inspiration......
My daughter received this vase as a gift and I just loved the bright iridescent colors and the buttons were easy to match up. This little note book is so easy, I'm thinking of making it for a kit class. Took me about 2 hours!
Now, I must say I used all my stash stuff so I don’t know where that pretty paper came from but don’t you love its brightness? The twine is from a kid’s bracelet making kit…. Yep, I use everything.
One thing I did buy though. Have you been to Beverly’s Fabrics and Crafts? They have the coolest buttons there made by Confetti. Again, really bright and retro patterns.
Cute Iridescent  Buttons
A simple cover for the top of the note pad.
I made a simple box for the pencil by scoring the edges and just folding them in. You can bet I'll be making more of these for gifts. Have a great weekend everyone.

I am a Proud American

Hello All:
On this Memorial Day, I’m sharing a project I was ask to make for a friend. Those of you who know me, know I love, love, love pin ups girls. So when I was asked to create a box with a Navy theme, I knew exactly where I was going! J I’m always collecting military memorabilia because I am truly patriotic and believe so much in our country and supporting our men and women who serve. I thank those who fought and perished to give me freedom to pursue MY dreams and keep MY family safe. We have a wonderful country because of their sacrifices.
I wanted this box to be a little vintage and worn because all the art work I used came from my collection of vintage articles and pictures. I collected articles from an 1942 McCalls Magazine and a Naval Affairs Newsletter. I totally fell in love with some of the pictures.  Various pins from the Navy that were given to me by the box’s owner. In my mind, I wanted this box to look like someone found it years later in an old dusty attic, so it's a little tattered looking.

It's displayed here with all the other memories the owner had.

In my art creations, I think I like making these altered boxes best. I need to get back to making more.
It was such a pleasure to give this box to that Navy Man. If you see a service man today, Don't forget to thank him for your freedom. Have a safe holiday everyone.

Simple and NOT Perfect

Just a quick little card for my friend who turned 50. I wanted to make her card special by celebrating her actual day and I found the cutest paper in my stash by Echo Park, Life is Good Line.
I’m trying to be better about letting myself just create and not worry so much about it being perfect. What is perfect anyway? I don’t even like that word. There’s no such thing. There’s only ART.

I found these flowers at the Dollar Tree and pulled them apart, added some little embellishments and done! Fast! The little buttons are made with my Epiphany Tool.
The inside of the card is just as simple. I used my leftovers from my 12x12 paper.
I added a Want2Scrap bling embellishment and recolored it with butterscotch alcohol ink. I love that you can match up the bling to any color of your project.
Have a great week everyone....I'll be working on more imperfections! :)

Did I Forget Something?

Friends!

I went to my local scrapbook store this weekend to check out the latest and greatest stuff. They had a little make n’take going on and so I sat down. Fastest card I’ve ever made. BUT….. of course I had to go home and embellish it. I had forgotten my friend’s Birthday so I decided to turn into a belated card. I scrunched up the coffee filter flowers and sprayed a little more Glimmer Mist and looked for the perfect picture in my stash. I found this photograph somewhere (I wish I could give credit for it, I just don’t know) and as soon as I saw it, it hit me! I loved this little cowboy and he certainly forgot something!

Another tidbit to share……. If you have the time or inclination, please visit my artsy friend Tracy at http://tracywburgos.typepad.com/ She has a Monday night get together on UStream and it is so much fun. All the details are on her blog. It’s well worth the visit. If she can’t motivate and inspire you then I don’t know who can!

Have a great rest of your week. I’m sharing with the following:
