Pink Zebra

I was asked to create a  gift for an 8th grade graduate.  I don’t know if any of you feel this way but I don’t like to make things for others. Why? Because I’m afraid they won’t like it! J I’d rather create something and then put it up for sale. That means someone “picked” it themselves.

I'm also linking up with The Unruly Paper Arts Quest for this project.
This box cost me $3.00 at the local Goodwill….. Love a bargain!
A little sanding, painting, paper and removing the hardware and here we go…..
Our local high school are the Zebras so I thought Teresa Collins' Freestyle line was perfect. I Modpodged the paper to the box and I must say it adhered nicely with no wrinkles. I wasn't crazy about the edges so I sanded a bit and wiped on Decoart pink paint to finish them off.
I also added some blingage (Zach's Bookplates), Want2scrap bling that I recolored (I love doing that) with Ranger Alcohol Inks.
I also die cut grungeboard and adhered with paper for the flowers. Here's a little hint...I've been buying my silk (Polyester) flowers at the dollar tree, taking them apart, adding a brad or rhinestone and a little glimmer mist and they turn out really cute.
And the inside....I love repurposing unusual boxes and now I have a collection thanks to friends and family.

This is SO fun, what a great gift! I know what you mean, about being afraid they won't like it, I have the same problem, but you have nothing to worry about!

Thank you for joining in the Reader's Art Quest at Unruly Paper Arts!

I love repurposing boxes, that's one of my favorite things! And I understand how you feel when being commissioned to make something for someone else, it's harder to make something that you think they will like instead of following your own creativity!! But I think you did a fabulous job on it and I am sure she will love it! I mean who doesn't like pink zebra stripes? lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Love your box- the pink is wonderful, and the flowers are great! I am reluctant to try this- how do you make the outside not sticky when you use Modge Podge? What a fun idea though- my girls would love these!

Hi Shelly. Thanks for stopping by. When my modge podge dries, it's not sticky. It had a nice finished sheen to the project.
